Terence C. Wade Ph.D.
Terence C. Wade, Ph.D., is a Senior Financial Advisor with CFO Solutions of Arizona LLC. (“CFO”). CFO is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and is a member of the CFO Advisors Network.
Dr. Wade began his professional career as a clinical psychologist and spent 30 fulfilling years enabling people to overcome their problems and get the lives they want. He accomplished that by staying focused on what his clients wanted to achieve and continually pursuing education and training in the most advanced treatment methods. Dr. Wade began his professional career as a clinical psychologist and spent 30 fulfilling years enabling people to overcome their problems and get the lives they want. He accomplished that by staying focused on what his clients wanted to achieve and continually pursuing education and training in the most advanced treatment methods.
During that time, he was a member of the American Psychological Association and the Hawai‘i Psychological Association, of which he is a past-president, as well as a member of many specialty societies and associations. He worked in both a private, solo practice and a group, so he is familiar with the benefits and challenges doctors face in both settings.
Early in his career, Dr. Wade became an integrated financial planning client with an advisor who used the risk-averse model that CFO has expanded upon. That single advisor coordinated a team of experts and had a consultant relationship with his clients. He enabled Dr. Wade to achieve financial independence sooner than any of his colleagues and allowed him to expand his focus to include philanthropic endeavors. Dr. Wade participates in community service through the Rotary Club of Honolulu, of which he has been a member for over 20 years, and as the chairperson of the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawai‘i, a volunteer non-profit organization that provides assistance to visitors who are victims of crime and other adversities. He is also a member of the Hawai‘i Chapter of Stanford Alumni, the Waikiki Yacht Club and Hawai‘i Fleet of the International Fellowship of Yachting Rotarians, of which he is a past-commodore. In addition, he and his wife established a donor advised fund with an intent to permanently endow organizations that embody their value system.
Before Dr. Wade embraced the CFO model, he observed how other doctors approached financial planning and saw that they utilized advisors of convenience who didn’t work together and whose advice often conflicted. He also consulted a variety of financial advisors, but realized they were typically investment generalists or product specialists. Only the CFO model provided wealth management in the sense that a single advisor takes a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of affluent clients and uses a highly consultative approach to deliver custom, integrated solutions in collaboration with experts across a broad array of financial needs.
As a result of Dr. Wade’s personal experience of financial freedom, he concluded that he had an obligation to enable other doctors to achieve financial independence sooner and with less risk. In particular, he wanted to embrace the wealth management model to understanding and providing solutions to all the major challenges of a doctor’s financial life. From the doctor client’s perspective, that means having all financial challenges solved. From the advisor’s point of view, it means the ability to provide a wide range of services and custom solutions, and to do so in a consultative way.
Dr. Wade’s home office is in Honolulu, but he also works with doctors in California and Nevada. He is licensed to sell insurance in all three states and holds securities licenses series 7, 63, and 65. In addition to consulting to individual doctors on their financial wants, needs and priorities to develop customized choices and solutions, Dr. Wade presents financial education seminars to physicians and dentists. He is expert in advanced asset allocation strategies to maximize returns for the risk doctors assume, financial and estate planning, and tax planning. He consults with doctors on business structure planning; disability, long-term care and life insurance issues; qualified and non-qualified retirement plans; and advanced asset protection. And he works with doctors who have achieved financial independence to endow their value systems if they so choose.
CFO is an independent, boutique financial planning and registered investment advisory firm which specializes in the unique planning needs of doctors and the economic issues facing them.
